DOE offers $32M for the production of rare earth and critical minerals from coal-based sources

The Department of Energy is getting more creative by the minute as it looks to work with existing active coal mines in the U.S. to extract rare earths and critical minerals from coal-based sources. The funds granted will be used for studies to support the development of intermediate- and demonstration-scale facilities for domestic production and refining of rare earth elements and other critical minerals.
